SEZ Lotus Tenant to Build Dredgers in Partnership with Royal IHC

Lotos Shipyard, JSC won a tender for construction of four self-propelled dredgers for Rosmorrechflot. This was announced today by the South Center for Shipbuilding and Ship Repair of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, which includes the Astrakhan shipyard. The technical project was developed by the world leader in the design and manufacture of dredgers - the Dutch company Royal IHC. The construction will be carried out under the leasing program of PJSC GTLK, the lessees will be the administrations of the basins of the inland waterways of the Russian Federation.

As a result of research and analysis of the dredging fleet of the Russian Federation, Royal IHC developed a conceptual design of an innovative bucket-wheel dredger for dredging on Russia's inland waterways, taking into account the requirements of the Russian River Register. This project is launching a program to upgrade the dredging fleet of Russia using modern technologies and will more effectively deal with the shallowing of rivers, canals and reservoirs.

“The construction of the first vessels of this type at the Lotos shipyard indicates the high competencies of the enterprise, sufficient technical base and the great organizational work that has been done. This includes receiving a tenant status of the Special Economic Zone LOTUS, which made it possible to modernize production lines, take advantage of tax preferences and regime of the free customs zone, as well as constant interaction with relevant ministries and departments, leasing companies and foreign partners. We were directly involved in this work – the main negotiations, meetings, interaction with IHC – and will continue to expand the presence of this company in the Astrakhan Region,” comments Sergey Milushkin, Director General of SEZ Lotus.
